well Bailey will meet her in a couple hours for the first time! I’ll be sure to take some photos and maybe a video. we’ve been looking forward to that interaction, bailey is such a sweet dog, we think he’ll be great;) yesterday we gave his dog sitter a one of avery’s shirts so he can smell her first.

Congrats! She’s a beauty. Enjoy your time together these first few days. I remember just sitting and looking at my little girl the days after she was born and was so amazed that my husband and I had made something so tiny. She’s now eleven and wears the same size shoes that I do, so enjoy the years when you have the upper hand, er, foot. Truly happy for you all!

Here’s a laundry tip: buy mesh laundry bags and put the socks in them to wash and dry. You could actually put any and all small baby items in a mesh bag, but it will make your life a lot easier just to keep track of socks.
Yeah, we call it the sock monster, you know the monster living in the washer and dryer that make socks mysteriously disappear. great idea, thanks.

I can’t remember if it’s been suggested in another post, but the Happiest Baby on the Block DVD saved our sanity the first months.

Yes, we’ve read this book and the 5 S’s really do work! actually just did them about 2 minutes ago after changing a diaper. So far she only cries when we change diapers, I think because she gets cold, she stops usually after the swaddle, side, shoosh, rarely requires swinging or pinky sucking;) of course the rest of the book is helpful too but this seemed to be the most important piece for us so far.
you’re right, the 5 S’s are the best, the rest of the book seems to just explain why you need to do them, that’s why we loved the DVD, it’s only a 30 min. demo of the 5 S’s. The only other real takeaway is the idea of the 4th trimester, just make it through those 1st 3 months, and suddenly it’s a whole new world. Congrats again!
